Update Firmware Samsung Glaxy Gio S5660 To Android Jelly Beanusing CyanogenMod 10.1

Now You Can Update Samsung Glaxy Gio S5660 To Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 By Simple Method Using CyanogenMod 10.1

All these instructions listed here and the files used in this guide work with Samsung Galaxy GIO S5660 only, so knowing that DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL this firmware on any other incorrect device or you can easily brick them damage.





 
The new CyanogenMod (CM) 10.1 for Samsung Galaxy Gio firmware is built on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS platform and brings with some notable new features such as GPS and A-GPS functionality, 2D and 3D graphics hardware acceleration, Native sensors, Audio for speakers, headphones and microphone, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, Video hardware acceleration, Google Play Store application integrated, Android Jelly Bean goodies,  YouTube High Quality, Deep sleep, Native FM radio, Native Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB tethering, Backlight buttons and more.
Prerequisites and Requirements:
  • Backup all your data stored into device's internal memory, do not try to use the Samsung Kies app to get the backup as the CM 10.1 is a custom ROM firmware.
  • Ensure that the device's battery has more than 70% power left, or else you risk obtaining a forced power off in the middle of the flashing process and to brick or damage your device.
  • Next, download and install in the PC the suitable USB drivers for Samsung Galaxy GIO device.
  • Root the Samsung Galaxy GIO device, and flash a custom recovery image such as ClockworkMod recovery (CWM).
  • Now, from the next path: "Settings > Application > Development > USB debugging mode" enable the USB debugging mode option.

 How to install the CyanogenMod 10.1 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware on Galaxy GIO smartphone.

  1. First, download the flashing file from here and save it in your PC.
  2. Secondly, download the Google Apps package and save it in your PC.
  3. Do not extract the downloaded files.
  4. Now, connect the Galaxy Gio S5660 to PC using the USB cord.
  5. Next, move (copy and paste) the downloaded CM 10.1 files and the Google Apps pack to the SD card.
  6. Once the downloaded files are complete copied, disconnect the smartphone from the PC.
  7. Turn the smartphone off.
  8. Boot it into recovery mode. (Press and keep holding the Volume UP, Home and Power buttons simultaneous till the Samsung Logo is displayed).
  9. Now, from the Recovery mode get a Nandroid backup for your actual running ROM. To do this select from the Recovery Mode the "backup and restore > backup" option. (The saved backup ROM file is stored inside of device's SD card, this backup can be restored in case you don't like the new firmware or something unpleasant is happening during or after the flashing process.
  10. Now, select "wipe data/factory reset" then "wipe cache partition "then select "advanced > wipe Dalvik cache."
  11. Next, return to the main Recovery Mode menu and flash the CyanogenMod 10.1 custom ROM.
  12. Select "install zip from SD card" then "choose zip from SD card" search the firmware file and confirm installation."
  13. Apply the above step once again, but select the Google Apps package.
  14. Once the flashing process has been done, return in the main Recovery Mode menu.
  15. From the main Recovery Mode menu select "reboot system now."
  16. The Galaxy Gio will reboot, now wait around 5 minutes to load the new firmware and to display the home screen.

Samsung Galaxy Grand I9082 with official Update To XXUBMHD Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Firmware

The new firmware is not a major change for users who have already received the first Android 4.2.2 JB firmware a few months ago, and it comes with few stability enhancements and bug fixes. So, to resume this new firmware is stable, fast and in additional solve the battery drain problems.

Prerequisites and guidelines required:
  • Firstly, make sure that the new update isn't OTA available for your device, for see that go to:  "settings -> about phone -> firmware version' and check for the notifications. If the new software is there, you can automatically download and install it.
  • If there isn't any OTA update or the Galaxy Grand device is a rooted device then a manual update step by step guide should be necessary in terms of installing an official Android 4.2.2 firmware.
  • This step by step guide and all the files used in this guide are compatible only with the Samsung Galaxy Grand model number I9082 device. So, knowing that do not try to install the new official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for any incorrect smartphone or tablet model.
  • This step by step guide can be completed for both unrooted or rooted devices.
  • If the galaxy Grand device is rooted, then applying an official firmware the root access will be revoked, but the warranty for it will be restored.
  • For this guide,we will use a Windows computer based, Odin flashing tool, the USB cable and the Samsung Galaxy Grand device.

    1. Firstly, download the Galaxy Grand I9082 XXUBMHD firmware on your PC from hereand save it in the PC.
    2. Secondly, unzip the downloaded package on the desktop PC.
    3. Download ODIN save it in the PC, unzip and install it.
    4. Now, launch the Odin app on the PC.
    5. Power off the phone, and make sure it is complete turned off. A vibration will confirm the turn off completely process.
    6. Boot it into Download Mode menu, to do this press and keep holding the home, power and volume down buttons simultaneous.

    10.  Now, click the "PDA" button from ODIN.
    11.  Browse and pick the extracted download firmware file.
    12. Click on START from ODIN.
    13. Don't make any changes, only wait ODIN to finish the flash process.
    14. Once the installation process is done, a "pass" message will be displayed on the ODIN and the ID:COM will turn green.
    15. Now, disconnect the device from PC.
    16. Reboot the device.
    Congratulation, now you've successfully learned how manually installs the new Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean official XXUBMHD into Samsung Galaxy Grand I9082 device.
    Troubleshooting:
    • If the device will enter into a boot loop at the first boot on the new firmware, you have to :
    1. Reboot the device into recovery mode
    2. From the Recovery Mode select "wipe data factory reset" and "wipe cache partition".
    3. Reboot the device.
    • If the ODIN app gets stuck during the step by step guide, you have to:
    1. Close the ODIN
    2. Disconnect the device from the PC.
    3. Force to restart the device.
    4. Re-install once again the Galaxy Grand USB drivers and repeat the procedure from the beginning.

Official Firmware Update Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean

Samsung is rolling out new Jellybean firmware update to its several high-end and mid-end Smart Phones and Tablets, Now Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1(P5100) gets a official Jellybean 4.2.2 BVDMF1  Firmware update. You can verify the update by visiting Settings >> About device >> Software update.
You can use Samsung Kies software to update it but sometimes it may not be available on Kies and also update may not be rolled out to some countries still now. So, Here is a manual update guide which is tested by developers and working great.

Requirements

Make sure that you meet following requirements

Update Galaxy Tab 2 10.1(P5100) to BVDMF1 Jellybean 4.2.2 Firmware

  1. Download the official update from here BVDMF1 Jellybean 4.1.2 Official Firmware - and extract it in desktop
  2. Turn ON USB Debugging ( Menu >> Settings >> Developer options >> USB debugging)
  3. Switch off your device then Press and hold  Volume Down + Home buttons + Power button . Once it gives a warning, Press Volume Down to enter debugging mode.
  4. Start ODIN which you installed and connect your device (Galaxy Tab 2) to PC via USB.
  5. If you installed  USB drivers correctly one of the ID:COM box in ODIN software will turn to yellow with COM port number. (see the image below)
  6. Now click PDA button and select the extracted file ( .tar.md5 file) which you did in step 1.
  7. Now make sure that options "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" is ticked in ODIN software.
  8. Click on START button and the process will begin.
  9. The device will be restarted to Recovery mode and Update process will be carried out.
  10. Once it is done the yellow colored ID:COM will turn Green
Thats it, You have successfully installed new Firmware. To check it go to Settings >> About Device. There you can verify the Android version number and build number there.

Troubleshooting

Occasionally the tab might not automatically restart to recovery mode as given in Step 9. In that case please carry out the process once again.
If still not fixed then do the following
  • Before moving to Step 8 above make sure that "Auto Reboot" option is not checked.
  • Now Start the process
  • Remove the Tab battery (Yes do it)
  • Replace the battery again and restart the tab by pressing Volume Up + Home + Power button together.
  • It will lead to Recovery mode of the tab and rooting process will automatically continue.
  • Once it is done the yellow colored ID:COM will turn Green
